Driving Instructor Training

Suen Andrews School Of Motoring has been established in driver training for 14 years in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. Our aim is to make any and all of your training as easy and enjoyable, whilst maintaining our strict teaching standards.

The quality of our instructors is second to none and we have a winning and dedicated team who work at our school. We aim to provide most of your training locally to cut down on travelling and subsequent expense.

Prior to beginning training you must complete Form ADI 14 in order to register with the Driving Standards Agency. We will supply all the necessary forms and paperwork throughout the course.

Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) training must be completed in three parts. Once the part 1 exams have been passed any potential ADI has a strict two years in which to complete their training.

Part 2 – 3 exams ~ any potential ADI has three attempts at the final qualifying exam.

PART 1

The first stage of your training is the theory section, which consists of four bands:

• Band 1 – Knowledge of road procedure.

• Band 2 – knowledge of traffic signs and signals, car controls, pedestrians, car mechanical knowledge.

• Band 3 – knowledge of the driving test, the laws and disabilities.

• Band 4 – Knowledge of publications and instructional techniques.

The theory test consists of the four sections above. The exam consists of one hundred questions the pass mark is 65%. In addition the candidate will then take the hazard perception test.

As part of your package we will supply all text books, study modules necessary for preparing for your part 1 exam.

In addition your training package will include the cost of one theory test, which we arrange on your behalf to suit you within a normal working week.

PART 2

The second stage of your ADI training concentrates entirely on your driving. To complete this stage you must and pass a 1 hour long Advanced Driving test.

Training consists of an initial 20 hours. The training timetable will be tailored to yourself. This training is designed to bring your driving up to the standard necessary for taking the part 2 test.

The actual test will cover urban driving, rural driving, dual carriageway and motorway driving, carrying out a turn in the road – reverse to the left and right – parallel and bay parking.
Throughout the candidate must not commit more than 6 minor mistakes.
Extra training can arranged if required.

As with the package the cost of one part 2 test is included. All drivers' training is done in our training vehicles, the part 2 is taken in the individual’s private vehicle.

PART 3

The third stage consists of solely instructor training. Your trade training will be 40 hours one to one of individual instructional training in the car.

After the 40 hours has been completed we will organize a (PDI) provisional driving instructor’s license which will enable yourself to earn and learn, giving any potential instructor the opportunity to recoup some if not all of their initial outlay, and most importantly to practice and gain experience with their new skills before trying their part 3 exam.

Part 3 training is then on going with supervision from one of our qualified instructors. The package includes one part 3 exam and use of training vehicle if required.

After completion you will be offered a full time placement within the school or you may choose to work independently.

IMPORTANT NOTE CANCELLATION POLICY
Should you wish to cancel to your tuition at any time the following conditions apply. The course can be cancelled but any completed training and exams taken or booked will be charged and cannot be refunded. All tests can be refunded but 7 working days notice is required excluding Saturdays.

If you cancel during part 1 training, you will only be liable for all part 1 costs up to the point of your training less any untaken exams as appropriate.
If you cancel during your part 2 training you will be liable for all part 2 costs.
If you cancel during your part 3 you will be liable for part 3 costs only.
